State PKR vice-chairman Chang Lih Kang lodged a report with the MACC against Perak Mentri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir for abuse of power and corruption.
Chang claimed that Zambry was responsible for Umno cronies getting state land meant for the poor and the landless in state.
Also named in the report was Umno Gopeng division chairman Hamzah Mohd Kassim.
Chang who handed over the report to MACC investigating officer Azaha Lias at 11am today will have his statement recorded tomorrow at the state MACC office.
He this came to light when Kampar district and land office displayed names of 127 eligible participants in the Sungai Itek village land scheme in Gopeng on Nov 24.
Ten lots had been allocated under a quota to the Umno Gopeng division. Hamzah took one lot and allocated the rest to his division’s eight committee members.
The remaining lots went to Hamzah’s business partner Syarul Nizam Mohamad Shahidan, the director and also shareholder of Star venturews development Sdn Bhd.
Land meant only for the poor
The state PKR did a search on the financial status of Hamzah who is also Ipoh City Council councillor and found that owned a big house in Taman Pinji Perdana.
Hamzah is also the director of three companies, Wibawa Pakat Construction Sdn Bhd, Siwara (M) Sdn Bhd and Puncak Wibawa Sdn Bhd.
The Gopeng division chief is also a major shareholder of Star Coach Ekspres Sdn Bhd and Star Ventures development Sdn Bhd.
“It does not make sense for a man of such financial status to be allocated precious state land lots that are meant only for the squatters, the poor and the landless who number in the tens of thousands in the state,” said a shocked Chang.
Chan wants the state MACC to take stern action against Zambry and Hamzah to discourage BN politicians from abusing and misusing their posts to help their cronies.
Zambry is currently overseas on working tour and is expected to return on Dec 21.
